The American Health Council is proud to welcome Debra Lehr, MSN, BSN, FNP-BC, CNM to its Nursing Board. Lehr took an indirect route to nursing but is proud to have spent the last 8 years having a positive effect on patients and the last two years building the impact of Grace Family Practice, her own private practice in Ohio specializing in Family Medicine and OBGYN/Midwifery services. As a Christian health care provider, Lehr strives to improve every patient’s mind, body, and spirit.
Nursing wouldn’t have evolved into a passion for Lehr if not for the influence of her family. She left a career as a stock analyst and financial advisor on Wall Street to help her family run their 300-bed nursing home in Ohio. The roots for the home and Lehr’s career began with her grandmother, a successful nurse who herself started a 700-bed nursing home.
Lehr’s family’s guidance as well as her love of patient interaction prompted her to pursue a nursing degree so she could continue to help others. She earned her BSN at Akron University in Ohio (2009) and her MSN at Case Western Reserve University (2012), also in Ohio. Lehr exceled as a student and received ample recognition, including an Outstanding Woman Scholar Award (2006), the Ann Blarichum Falor Scholarship in Nursing (2007-2008), and the Helene Fuld Health Trust Scholarship in Nursing (2008-2009).
Following in the footsteps of her grandmother and family, Lehr started Grace Family Medicine in 2015 to pursue her love of family health care. Along with Family Medicine Services, the Practice offers Hormonal Therapies, Midwifery Services, Infectious Disease Care, Wound Care, Women’s Health Services, and Venipuncture & Laboratory Services. She aims to provide excellent care and quality health care to all her patients and encourage them to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Over the next 5 years, Lehr will continue to expand her practice while helping more patients and gaining new experiences in the process. In her spare time, she loves to sing opera and travel all around the world.
