Joanne Tobiasz-Dey, APN-BC, Nurse Practitioner at Hamilton Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Center has been elected to the American Health Council’s Board of Nurses. With 21 years in the healthcare industry, including five years in her current role, Ms. Tobiasz-Dey will be sharing her knowledge and proficiency in Family Medicine and Allergy Care.
Ms. Tobiasz-Dey received her Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Communications and minor in Psychology from Rider University in 1990. Pursuing further education, she earned her Master’s Degree in Family Nurse Practitionership (FNP) from Drexel University College of Medicine, with highest honors as Magna Cum Laude in 2009.
Ms. Tobiasz-Dey’s career in nursing stemmed from her genuine need to help others. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, she was an educator and Emergency Room RN at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for 16 years. Upon certification as a Nurse Practitioner, she managed the Emergency Department and established protocols for pediatric emergency care.
Aside from her hard work and dedication, Ms. Tobiasz-Dey recognizes her family as the heart of her success, so she pursued a more stable environment with even hours. Ms. Tobiasz-Dey loves to educate her patients and continuously provide quality care so they can live a healthier life. Ms. Tobiasz-Dey’s day to day responsibilities includes working side by side with collaborating physician Dr. Aslam Lateef. Together, they bring an abundance of knowledge and expertise to their patients daily. Her usual workday involves consulting and treating patients with immune disorders, allergies, asthma, eczema, and urticaria. She also takes part in allergy testing, which includes testing for various food allergies.
Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Tobiasz-Dey is particularly proud of all the work she has done as a Nurse Practitioner. Seeing her patients’ health accumulate under her care is the most rewarding part of her career. She also completed immaculate work in her research and is proud of the papers she has written and published. Because of her work, she was invited to speak at a conference in San Antonio.
Among Ms. Tobiasz-Dey many accomplishments, she is most proud of achieving Magna Cum Laude Honors from Drexel University and the Who’s Who in Nursing Award, which she won in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Furthering her professional development, Ms. Tobiasz-Dey is a member of many associations such as the American Nursing Association, American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She also donates to the Watts of Love foundation which her cousin founded.
Looking ahead, her goals within the next five years include the continuation of growth and learning.
In her free time, Ms. Tobiasz-Dey enjoys traveling, playing sports, and boating near her shore-side home. She also loves spending time with her husband, two sons, and the rest of her family.
